Digitisation and Data Management Challenges in Small Collections

The aim of this summer school is to equip participants with an understanding of the principles of modern biodiversity theory and its role in Conservation Biology. They will learn practical skills for biodiversity fieldwork including sampling design and monitoring. Students will learn how to analyze ecological data with R, using some of the main packages for biodiversity data analysis and have the opportunity to try these out on their own datasets.
After having a successful First BioDialog Summer School on Biodiversity Informatics 2017 in Egypt, DDL2018 is organised as an international School within the BioDiaog Project that aims to foster Scientific Data Management (theory, tools and techniques) which focus on data analytics and deep learning on the one hand and biodiversity informatics on the other hand.
In the wake of the CETAF43 General Meeting at the Natural History Museum, London, a special workshop will be dedicated to the issue of “Implementation of Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) Legislation” on Friday 27th April 2018.
The course has been designed to provide tools to prepare European teachers for a future that happens today. The topics and training activities take into account the Key Competences for 21st Century Students. The trainers are enthusiastic educational agents, namely teachers with a broad experience and actively involved in 21st Century Skills.
Transmitting Science offers a wide range of courses related to the life sciences, which includes natura history science topics. They are predominantly held in Barcelona, Spain.
